When can I apply for Australian citizenship?
Enter when your lawful residence started, your permanent residence date and your trips abroad to find the earliest date you meet the residence requirement: 4 years of lawful residence including 1 year as a permanent resident, with no more than 12 months away in total and 90 days in the last year.

How we calculate
- We start from the first day that is 4 years after your lawful residence began and 1 year after permanent residence.
- We add up days away in the 4 years before that day (limit 365) and in the last year (limit 90).
- If either limit is exceeded, we move the date forward day by day until both are met.
